It’s been a scorching month which has meant plenty of reading time in the garden. I have had some fabulous books to read this month including some by my favourite authors, so it has been difficult to choose my top three. After much deliberation I have got there with my choices below. All books reviewed this month are at the bottom of this post.
The Love Letter by Lucinda Riley. Lucinda Riley is one of my favourite authors of the moment so I was delighted to find out she was releasing her first thriller. The Love Letter is set around the death of the famous actor Sir James Harrison, who had in his possession a letter that could bring down the British establishment. Journalist Joanna Haslem is sent to cover his funeral for her paper and there meets Rose who puts her on the trail of this letter that some people are willing to kill for. This is full of suspense and tension that will grab your attention. I actually carried this book around the house incase. could grab a couple of minutes to read a bit more.
The Greek Escape by Karen Swan. Another of my favourite authors is Kare Swan and it wouldn’t be summer without one of her books. The narrative follows Chloe Marston in her job as a concierge to a set of rich and famous clients; if they want it she can get it, from penguins to a party to rose petals falling from a bridge over the Seine as their boat goes past. However, her won life is a bit of a mess which she deals with by running away from her problems. This is how she ends up in the Greek Islands with one of her clients choosing a villa. but the lines between client and concierge begin to blur as she is drawn to his good looks and charming personality. A great plot, beautiful locations and a set of wonderful characters make this the perfect summer read. I was also lucky enough to get an interview with Karen Swan.
The Temptation of Gracie by Santa Montefiore. This book is the perfect for me as it is about art and Italy. Gracie the main character is in her late sixties, quiet and unassuming, so when she decides to go on a cookery course to Tuscany friends and family are shocked. Whilst there with her daughter and granddaughter Gracie recounts her early life in Italy living with her uncle and restoring and faking works of art. This is a ‘bellisima” read about art, passion. love and relationships; I genuinely didn’t want the book to end.
Well, that’s my top three for July, I hope you will have a look at my full reviews and maybe read one of them. The other books I reviewed this month are below. I am taking August off from blogging and social media to read some of the books on my shelves, and spend time with my two new puppies. I will be back in September.
