May Abridged

May has been a busy month for me, I have read eight physical books and listened to five audio books, which is a first for me.  I love reading but am quickly becoming an audiobook addict as well.  When I am unwell and unable to read is nice to have a fall back and audiobooks mean I can still get the pleasure of a book with out having to read one.

So, it is time to decide on my three favourite reads of the month; full details of all this months book are available on my blog.

91TyCvu8FALThe Old You by Louise Voss.  This was my first read of May and a good omen of the books to come this month.  This fast paced thriller focuses on Lynn and Ed Naismith after Ed has a diagnosis of dementia.  As the dementia sets in Ed changes and their lives fall apart and strange things happen that make Lynn start to question what is her husbands behaviour.  But all characters have a past and all are hiding something.  This was a brilliant and sinister read, with a shocking and chilling plot line.

91AefoL5HvLThe J.M.Barrie Ladies Swimming Society by Barbara J Zitwer.  The cover to this book is what drew my eye and was pleased to realise the book was as good and delightful as the cover.  Joey lives in New York and gets her dream job when she gets a chance to travel to England and work on the restoration of Stanway House, where J M Barrie was inspired to write Peter Pan. Once in England she befriends the ladies of the J M Barrie Swimming Society, who show her the value of friendship and that maybe her life could do with a bit of TLC as well.  This book will make you laugh, cry and smile all the way through.  It is a delightful read, with memorable characters you will fall in love with.

51oM-66B3zLThirteen by Steve Cavanagh.  After my first read being one of top three it seems right that my last book of the month should also be on my list.  Thirteen is a book that has a lot of hype around it and when I heard of the premise of the killer actually being on the jury I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this book.  It certainly lived up to the hype; it is dark, chilling, intelligent and will take you on a journey you won’t forget.  It is the fourth book in the Eddie Flynn series but it can be read as a standalone book which is how I read it.  After finishing this book I went straight on Amazon and downloaded the previous three books.

Thank you for reading my posts this month, I hope my reviews have made you add to your TBR pile.  June has some fabulous books in store including the new Roseanna Ley novel and Sue Moorcrofts latest book.

Below are all the books I have reviewed this month.
