Synopsis

You know something.

You can’t share it.

You can’t discuss it.

You can’t stop thinking about it.

Audrey Fox never thought she’d tie the knot, especially after wasting eight years of her life with a man who couldn’t commit. But at the age of forty-two, fate throws her a lifeline and she finally has it all; gorgeous husband, thriving career, beautiful family and fabulous friends. Life couldn’t be better….until someone tells her a secret at a boozy dinner party; something that she wishes she could unhear; something that could wreck lives.

Burdened by the secret, Audrey’s perfect life begins to spiral out of control and the cracks begin to show. She longs to tell her husband but is fearful of the consequences; she’s desperate to discuss it with her friends, but her hands are tied. Then one morning, on impulse, Audrey does something drastic, but will she live to regret it? Because there’s no smoke without fire and everyone has secrets…don’t they?

Review

About the time last year I read and reviewed Kelly Florentia’s No Way Back which ended with a bit of a cliffhanger.  I was desperate to know what happened next and even tried to get Kelly to spill the beans, which she wouldn’t.  I have been so busy that it has taken me until now to catch up with Audrey’s story, and who she married, and I have to say it was worth the wait, it is as brilliant as. had hoped for.  In the time it has been sitting on my shelf I had to send it to my cousin who was desperate to read it, and she loved it as well.

So, Her Secret continues Audrey’s story of being caught between two men, her husband and her ex; I’m not giving names as it would spoil it.  But this book takes a slightly darker turn than the previous.  She is party to a secret that starts to take a toll on her marriage which already is showing cracks.  As a character Audrey is a woman after my own heart with her love of Louboutins, and Jimmy Choo shoes; the cover of the book is black and white with the colour coming from the red sole of her Louboutins.  All her friends from the first book are back, and all with their own problems which they put on to Audrey who has enough troubles of her own; her marriage, her feeling of being followed, and problems at work.

Kelly Florentia’s writing is as impeccable as the first book, with attention to detail and a brilliant plot line.  It is narrated in the first person by Audrey, which makes the reader feel part of the book, and gives it a more personal feeling.  Kelly is very clever in ending each chapter at a pivotal moment so you need to read the next chapter, then the next chapter and so on as you need to know what happens next. I read the book in one day due to this, I was addicted and a bit anxious, in a good way, at points as to where this was going.  The characters and their lives are all relatable which adds to readability of this book; you feel you know them and therefore take an interest in their lives.

Her Secret is a fabulous read, but you do need to read No Way Back first.  It has romance, secrets, lies, humour and wonderfully relatable characters. It is fairly fast paced with a lot going on to keep your interest until the crescendo of an ending.  Fabulous, funny and flawless.

Thank you for reading my review of Her Secret.. You can also read my review of No Way Back on my blog.  I appreciate all your likes and shares and hope you will consider to share this review.
