Baby Doll by Hollie Overton published 30 June 2016

Lily Rise was abducted outside her school eight years ago. In that time she has grown from a child to a woman and become a mother. One night her captor makes a mistake and she has the opportunity to escape and return to her loving family. However, it is not only Lily that has changed in those eight years, so has her family. Whatever the changes they will navigate them together especially when they find out who abducted her.
This is a brilliant debut novel from Hollie Overton. The story is told by the main protagonists which gives a multi-dimensional narrative. It also makes the story more personal as you see how different family members have been affected over the past eight years. This is a well written novel with a plot that has many twists and turns. The momentum carries the reader along as if the reader were part of the narrative. It is a compelling read that highlights the fact that evil can be present anywhere in society. It is also a life affirming story of a strong willed young woman and you finish the book remembering not to take anything for granted.
